Kosmos Ensemble perform at Wiltons MUsic Hall

Just wanted to say

A very close friend of mine who has never understood what I am trying to achieve with the Sam says enjoy life! project, asked me what I am trying to gain from it. I believe we all grieve in different ways and I have found it so therapeutic as well as a wonderful way for me to stay in contact with my sister. Everytime I try to think up a happy, positive slogan I fill myself with her wonderful energy.
People admire film stars, musicians, politicians, sportsmen/woman. Sam wasn't famous however she is very inspiring and invigorating. She also left us an awful lot of footage for us to get to know her, why can't I use it and spread the word?

Different forms of commemorating your loved one:

Elegy
The elegy began as an ancient Greek metrical form and is traditionally written in response to the death of a person or group. Though similar in function, the elegy is distinct from the epitaph, ode, and eulogy: the epitaph is very brief; the ode solely exalts; and the eulogy is most often written in formal prose. The elements of a traditional elegy mirror three stages of loss. First, there is a lament, where the speaker expresses grief and sorrow, then praise and admiration of the idealized dead, and finally consolation and solace. These three stages can be seen in W. H. Auden’s classic"In Memory of W. B. Yeats," written for the Irish master, which includes these stanzas: With the farming of a verse Make a vineyard of the curse, Sing of human unsuccess In a rapture of distress; In the deserts of the heart Let the healing fountain start, In the prison of his days Teach the free man how to praise. Other well-known elegies include "Fugue of Death" by Paul Celan, written for victims of the Holocaust, and "O Captain! My Captain!" by Walt Whitman, written for President Abraham Lincoln. Many modern elegies have been written not out of a sense of personal grief, but rather a broad feeling of loss and metaphysical sadness. A famous example is the mournful series of ten poems in Duino Elegies, by German poet Rainer Maria Rilke. The first poem begins: If I cried out who would hear me up there among the angelic orders? And suppose one suddenly took me to his heart I would shrivel Taj Mahal: The Greatest Mausoleum Of Love 5 Oct Imagine in a full moon night,  you are sitting on the bank of a river , in front of a highland. And on the surface of this ascent , a white jewel is shining.  And it is reverting itself in the mirror of the water. Probably you are thinking it as the most romantic fantasy. But this is not dreamy. The river , we are talking about is Yamuna and the white jewel is the great “Taj Mahal“.  The incomparable , peerless and unparalleled Taj Mahal ! Taj Mahal, the greatest Mausoleum of Love is an elegy in white marble which is in fact the most phenomenal burial place ever built by any Romeo for his Juliet. Taj Mahal was constructed by the Mughal Emperor , Shahab u Din Muhammad Shahjahan, who was the fifth emperor of the then great Mughal empire of India.  Shahjahan was also famous with the name of the “Engineer Emperor” and his period was the most glorious period for Mughal architecture. He constructed many remarkable structures but the most breathtaking of all of them is surely the Taj Mahal. In 1631 , Shahjahan lost his most beloved wife the Empress Mumtaz Mahal ” Arjumand Banu Begum ” during the birth of their fourteenth child.  She was the most trustworthy companion of the Emperor Shahjehan who remained with his husband during all of her life. Mumtaz Mahal was Emperor’s true love and she was also the mother of Aurangzeb Alamgir who was the successor of the Emperor Shahjehan. The death of the Empress was the most dejected incident in the life of the Emperor Shahjahan. At that time , he decided to make the tomb of his valentine as the most elegant final resting place in the world.

Como se creó Sam says enjoy life!

Mi única hermana, Samantha,  y mi sobrina Ruby Rose, de seis meses, también fallecieron en el tsunami que asoló el sudeste asiático en el 2004. Su marido, Patrice, logró sobrevivir. Bayona acudió a para recabar documentación de cara a su nueva película, “Lo imposible”. Me llamo Nathalie Archer. Nací en Londres y vivo en España desde hace veinte años.

         Bayona y yo nos conocíamos porque habíamos trabajado juntos en la realización de varios espots publicitarios, él como realizador y yo como jefa de producción. Bayona sabía que había acudido a Tailandia días después del suceso y quiso recabar información de lo que vi y viví aquellos días. Me explicó que estaba escribiendo un guión basado en un hecho real, en la historia de una familia española que sobrevivió al tsunami. Cuando me narró la historia de esta familia, pensé que era posible que el marido y mi cuñado llegaran a conocerse. Patrice me explicó cuando llegué a Tailandia que había conocido a un español que buscaba a su familia, como él a la suya. Días después, mientras Patrice seguía buscando a Sam y a Ruby, este español le explicó que la había encontrado.

         En nuestro caso Sam y Ruby no aparecieron, por lo que mi familia, ese mismo año, creó la ONG “Sam and Ruby” (www.samandruby.com), en honor a mi hermana y su bebé. La organización recauda dinero para ayudar a los niños afectados por el tsunami a tener una educación. Los primeros años conseguimos recaudar  bastante dinero con la ayuda de Kate Moss (mi hermana era booker de Kate en París), organizando una subasta benéfica de fotografías en Londres y Nueva York.

         Actualmente la www.samandruby.com dona a diferentes organizaciones ayudándoles con pequeños proyectos. Por ejemplo construimos unos sanitarios en una escuela, compramos zapatillas deportivas  para toda una clase, construimos una nueva aula…

         Para ayudar a samandruby.com hemos creado un proyecto paralelo llamado “Sam says… enjoy life” (http://samsaysenjoylife.com/). Mi hermana Sam era una persona positiva, alegre, embriagadora, espontánea, arrolladora, radical, amiga de sus amigos y, sobre todo, en absoluto indiferente con la vida. El objetivo de Sam says enjoy life es transmitir este mensaje de optimismo y de amor a la vida en pequeñas acciones cotidianas como, por ejemplo, cocinar.

        

Por eso hemos creado en Sam says… una línea textil de cocina con estampados que recogen algunos de los episodios de la vida de Sam así como una selección de sus frases más célebres que transmiten las ganas de vivir, la “joie de vivre” con el objetivo de obtener fondos.
